Bitterness Destroys

Published by Admin on

Bitterness destroys us, not the person with whom we’re angry. We can shoot mental darts at them all day long or be sulky and cynical, but that only destroys us and possibly others around us. It makes us a repelling force to all our would-be friends. I was in this trap years ago and I sought for escape. In my struggle I wrote this song.

Make Me Beautiful

When my heart’s full of ugliness, unforgiveness, bitterness,
How can I be used by You and do what You would have me do?
If who I am is how I think and each day I can only sink
In my own evil thoughts to dwell, how can I Your sweet gospel tell?

When I fall into discontent and I wish my life different,
I really feel joy would come if I could change to what I want.
I’m saying, “God, You make mistakes!” Instead, I need to stop and pray,
Accepting what He’d have me do, no matter what I may go through.

And so now in my life each day I need patience for the way
And kindness for everyone in every word and deed that’s done
Because I want to mirror Him Who gave up everything in Heav’n
To save a sinful soul like mine. Lord, make my heart more like Thine!

Chorus:
Make me, Lord, one beautiful with thoughts of praise for You.
Make me a vessel honorable, proclaiming grace and truth.
May each action show the thoughts of forgiveness and love.
May I reflect the person of my sweet Father above.
